I embarked on my cybersecurity journey during the 10 Year Anniversary of Security of Kansas City (SecKC) in October 2021. Since then, my dedication to understanding and pursuing cybersecurity has grown exponentially. Relocating from my Electrical Engineering studies, I obtained an Associate Applied Science degree in Computer Science/Information Systems - Secure Administration & Engineering from the NSA-accredited Metropolitan Community College-Kansas City. Actively participating in local cybersecurity groups like SecKC and Women in Security of Kansas City has enhanced my knowledge and skills, including hands-on experience in hardware. As a security analyst, I've honed my programming skills, embraced the importance of visibility in securing businesses, and leveraged open-source tools for threat intelligence. Eager for new challenges, I'm ready to apply my expertise in a more demanding role to make a substantial impact.

Security Analyst

InsCyt

As a security analyst at a company lacking robust security management and threat detection systems, I took on various responsibilities to enhance the organization's security posture. This included developing a Python script for automated ticketing and handling of malicious websites, investigating and resolving customer-reported website issues, optimizing detection criteria to minimize false positives, promoting security best practices and conducting phishing awareness training, and creating comprehensive documentation for security databases and systems. Through these efforts, I successfully streamlined incident response, improved threat detection accuracy, and fostered a culture of security awareness within the organization.

Interests

Apart from being a information security professional, I find great fulfillment in exploring a diverse range of interests that stimulate my mind and foster personal growth. Through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, I have discovered a profound passion for the art of self-defense, engaging in grappling, ground fighting, and mastering submission holds. It is an empowering martial art that teaches discipline, resilience, and effective problem-solving techniques.

Engaging in Capture the Flag (CTF) challenges fuels my intellectual curiosity and nurtures a collaborative mindset. These captivating competitions prioritize knowledge sharing and education, fostering a vibrant community dedicated to unraveling complex problems and enhancing cybersecurity skills. In contrast, the art of pottery captivates me with its meditative nature, providing an avenue for introspection and mindfulness.
